Telehealth is the use of telecommunication and computing technology to support long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health, and health administration. While often used interchangeably, telehealth has a broader scope than telemedicine, which typically refers to clinical or curative applications of technology.
In the WyNETTE project, we view telehealth as consisting of three parts: telemedicine, including patient care activities such as consultation, supervision, home health, and interprofessional case conferences; education, focusing on new, upgraded, and continuing health education; and informatics, meaning distributed digital resources such as online medical libraries and resources for policy, legal, and regulatory development. |
